Styling your session

You booked your session (with DBP!), now how on earth do you decide what to wear?!.

  • Decide what look you are going for. Casual or dressy?
  • Choose a color scheme. The key is to coordinate, rather than to be matchy-matchy! Consider your home palette. If you have white walls, beige furniture, and neutral accents, bright colors are probably going to clash with the feel of your home when you add the photos to your frames. Also, avoid neons and bright reds. These tend to create and unnatural color cast on your face and skin!
  • Just say “No” to graphics. We want to focus on the subject of the photo… you! A large logo or graphic can be distracting.
  • Limit patterns. Don’t rule them out, patterns are good! Just remember that too many can clash and be distracting!
  • Choose the leading lady’s outfit first, then pull colors and outfits for everyone else based on that!
  • Get inspired! Check out Pinterest for color schemes and outfit coordination that speaks to you.
  • Stay comfortable! Try on your outfit well before-hand so that you have time to change it if something isn’t working. If you feel uneasy in your outfit choice, it may read into your photos. You don’t have to be someone else for your session… We’re photographing YOU, after all!
